Open Gavia and tap Get Started. Sign in with Apple on iPhone, Google on Android, or enter your email address on any device to receive a one-time verification code. No password is required. You will then complete a 9-screen onboarding that captures your diagnosis, symptom baselines, current medications, and preferences.
Your health profile is built during onboarding. Gavia asks about your diagnosis type (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or IBD-unclassified), disease location, symptom baselines, current medications, and optional demographics. You can update any of this information later in Profile, then Health Profile.
Yes. Gavia is built offline-first. All tracking, check-ins, medication reminders, and data entry work without any internet connection. AI-powered features (GutGuide, Health Reports, GI Message Drafting, Appointment Prep) require a connection, but your tracking data is never lost if you go offline.
Not yet, but it is coming soon. Join our Android waitlist and we will notify you the moment Gavia launches on Google Play. All features will be available on Android with full parity — same tracking categories, check-ins, AI features, and exports.
iPhone 8 or newer with iOS 16+. Android 7.0 (Nougat) or newer. iPad support is in beta — TestFlight access available on request.
Tracking
Open the Track tab and select BM. Record consistency, urgency, the presence of blood, and whether it was a nighttime occurrence. If you have an ostomy, the tracker automatically adapts to output volume tracking.
Open the Track tab and select Medications. You can quick-select from 20 common IBD medications (biologics, immunomodulators, corticosteroids, aminosalicylates) or add custom medications with dose, frequency, and reminder times. Medications are organized by three priority tiers: Critical, High, and Normal.
Open the Track tab and select Nutrition. Search the 200+ IBD-relevant food database or add a custom item. Gavia tracks macronutrients (calories, protein, carbs, fat) and six critical micronutrients (Iron, B12, Vitamin D, Calcium, Zinc). After logging, you can record any post-meal symptoms to help Gavia identify trigger foods over time.
Start a flare from your Today dashboard or the Pain tab. While a flare is active, Gavia adapts: hydration targets increase by 50%, the Nutrition tab highlights safe foods and enables a low-residue filter, and a flare checklist helps you stay on top of hydration, rest, monitoring, trigger food avoidance, and medications. End the flare when you are ready, and it is recorded on your Health Timeline.
Guided check-ins take under two minutes each. The morning check-in covers sleep quality, current pain level, medication confirmation, and mood. The evening check-in covers bowel movement summary, fatigue, medication review, and mood. Check-ins appear as a card on your Today dashboard, and streaks help you build consistency.
Yes. The Mind tab lets you track daily mood and stress levels. It also includes validated PHQ-9 (depression) and GAD-7 (anxiety) screening tools — the same instruments used in clinical settings. During onboarding, a brief PHQ-2 screening establishes your baseline. If screening scores indicate distress, Gavia detects your region and immediately displays your local crisis helpline — 988 in the US, Samaritans in the UK, Lifeline in Australia, and 16+ countries supported.

Gavia Pro unlocks AI-powered features: unlimited GutGuide AI conversations, biweekly Health Intelligence Reports (auto-generated on the 15th and last day of each month), the full Insights dashboard with trends and analytics, doctor report generation, GI message drafting, appointment prep checklists, and data export.

Privacy & data
Yes. Profile data and medications are encrypted in the iOS Keychain (Secure Enclave). Tracking data is encrypted in a local SQLite database. All data transmitted to cloud backup is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Cloud storage uses Row Level Security — you can only access your own data.
Yes, for free. Go to Profile, then Data and Privacy, then Export My Data. Your complete health history exports as a structured JSON file containing every record across all tracking categories. Available to all users — free and Pro — under GDPR Article 20 data portability.
Scroll to the bottom of the Profile screen and tap Delete Account. You will complete a brief feedback survey, then all of your data will be permanently removed from the app and our servers. This action is irreversible.
Gavia shares limited data with three service providers, and nothing else. Anthropic (AI provider) receives de-identified health summaries only — computed averages, percentages, and trends. Individual entries, medication names, and personal notes are not transmitted. Sentry (crash reporting) receives crash data only, scrubbed of all health information. RevenueCat (subscriptions) receives purchase status only, no health data. The Gavia app is currently ad-free. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Troubleshooting
Gavia stores all data locally first, so nothing is lost. If cloud sync is not working, check your internet connection and try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, contact support@gaviahealth.com.
Go to your iPhone Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Health, then Gavia, and make sure the relevant data categories are enabled. If you skipped HealthKit permissions during onboarding, you can enable them later in Profile, then Data and Privacy, then Apple Health.
GutGuide requires an internet connection and an active Gavia Pro subscription. Check both, then try again. If the issue continues, contact support@gaviahealth.com.
Go to Profile, then Preferences, then Appearance. Choose Light, Dark, or System (which follows your iPhone's setting).
